Code of Conduct           

 

    1    Members should at all times maintain the best possible standards of health,    

cleanliness and care of their Shih Tzu

    2    Accurate pedigrees and records of breeding and health should be kept

    3    BREEDING    At all times the welfare and improvement of the breed shall be the primary consideration

        a    Only Shih Tzu that are registered with the Kennel Club shall be used for breeding

        b    Members shall not breed from Shih Tzu known to have disqualifying or disabling defects, inherited illnesses, or symptoms of mental disorder

        c    Stud dog owners should satisfy themselves, to the best of their ability, as to the suitability of bitches' breeding and the conditions under which litters would be reared before agreeing a stud service. All dogs offered at stud should be in good health and free from communicable disease

        d    No bitch shall have more than two litters in any 24 month period, nor be bred from prior to two years of age. During her lifetime no bitch shall be expected to produce more than three litters. A bitch shall only be mated if in good health and free from communicable diseases.

    4    THE SALE OF SHIH TZU

        a    At the time of sale, all Shih Tzu should be in good health, to the best of the vendor's knowledge.

        b    Members shall not permit Shih Tzu to be sold to pet shops or other commercial establishments, nor allow them to be used as raffle or competition prizes.

        c    Puppies should not change home under eight weeks of age, ten weeks being advisable.

        d    The vendor shall provide a satisfactory diet sheet, with records of inoculation and worming; and a pedigree, Kennel Club registration papers and a transfer document shall also be provided, unless an agreement is made at the time of sale that these papers are to be withheld

        e    All advertising of stock for sale must be true and realistic, and not in any way fraudulent or misrepresentative, especially with regard to the show potential.
